QSO Director Adds Support for QRP Labs QMX, QDX and QCX Transceivers
October 12, 2026
Great news for Yaesu FT-710 owners! QSO Director now supports the FT-710’s spectrum scope and waterfall directly over USB, eliminating the need for the additional SCU-LAN10 network interface.
This latest enhancement makes it easier and more affordable to take advantage of QSO Director’s advanced spectrum display capabilities, bringing live band activity, radio control and logging together in one integrated operating environment.
Full Spectrum Scope Support Without Additional Hardware
Until now, accessing the Yaesu FT-710’s spectrum scope within QSO Director required the Yaesu SCU-LAN10 network interface.
While the SCU-LAN10 provides an excellent network-based connection, it also represents additional hardware and expense for operators who simply want to connect their radio directly to their computer.
With QSO Director’s new native USB spectrum support, that’s no longer necessary.
Using the FT-710’s built-in USB connectivity, QSO Director can now access the radio’s spectrum data directly, allowing operators to enjoy a live spectrum scope and waterfall display without purchasing a separate network interface.
For operators who already connect their FT-710 to a computer using USB for CAT control and logging, this is a particularly welcome improvement.
See What’s Happening Across the Band
QSO Director’s integrated spectrum scope and waterfall provide a visual representation of activity across the frequencies being monitored by your FT-710.
Rather than relying entirely on the radio’s built-in display, you can bring that spectrum information directly into your computer-based operating environment.
The integrated display helps you to:
- Visualise band activity: See signals and changing activity across the displayed spectrum.
- Find operating opportunities: Identify active and quieter frequencies while exploring the band.
- Monitor signals: Use the waterfall to observe how signals and band activity change over time.
- Make better use of your screen space: Display the spectrum alongside your other operating tools.
- Stay focused on operating: Keep essential information together rather than continually switching between separate applications.
Whether you’re chasing DX, contesting or simply enjoying an evening on the bands, having the spectrum display available alongside your logging and station control tools makes for a more convenient operating experience.
One USB Connection. One Integrated Operating Environment.
The real benefit goes beyond displaying a spectrum scope on your computer.
QSO Director is designed to bring the different parts of your amateur radio station together, allowing information from your transceiver to be used throughout the application.
With your FT-710 connected, you can combine its spectrum display with QSO Director’s other capabilities, including:
- Radio control and automatic frequency and mode tracking.
- Integrated amateur radio logging.
- DX Cluster monitoring and spotting information.
- Band maps and DX hunting tools.
- Activation logging features.
- Flexible window layouts and multi-monitor support.
You can arrange your operating environment to suit the way you work, whether that’s a compact layout on a laptop or a dedicated station with multiple monitors.
It’s another step towards making your computer and your transceiver work together as one cohesive station.
SCU-LAN10 Support Is Still Available
For FT-710 owners who prefer to connect their transceiver over a network, QSO Director continues to support the Yaesu SCU-LAN10 interface.
The new USB capability doesn’t replace that option. Instead, it gives operators greater flexibility in how they connect their equipment.
If your FT-710 is located alongside your computer, a direct USB connection offers a straightforward solution without additional hardware.
If you prefer a network-connected configuration, the SCU-LAN10 remains an option.
Either way, QSO Director gives you the freedom to build your station around your own requirements.
Continuing to Expand Radio Integration
Native support for the Yaesu FT-710’s USB spectrum interface is part of our ongoing work to make QSO Director one of the most capable and flexible amateur radio operating applications available.
We’re continuing to improve integration with supported transceivers and station equipment, with a particular focus on making advanced capabilities accessible without unnecessary hardware, complicated configuration or multiple disconnected applications.
Our aim is simple: let operators spend more time enjoying amateur radio and less time managing the software and equipment around it.
Try QSO Director with Your Yaesu FT-710
If you own a Yaesu FT-710, you can now take advantage of QSO Director’s integrated spectrum scope and waterfall over USB, without needing a SCU-LAN10.
Whether you’re already using QSO Director or looking for a modern logging and station control solution, this latest enhancement makes it even easier to get more from your FT-710.
